Weekend Round Up

Last weekend saw Manx Tri Club members competing over a variety of Long Distance races in various parts of the UK and Europe.

Juan Kinley posted a very strong time around the notoriously difficult Ironman Lanzarote course to finish 9th in Category and 218th Overall in 10:51:15, whilst Richie Komasa was in France racing in the Pays d'Aix 70.3.  Richie finished 60th in Category and 399th overall in this, his first attempt at the half ironman distance in 5:11:06.

Meanwhile, all four triathletes from the Isle of Man successfully made it around the tough & hilly Slateman course on Sunday 20th May, and congratulations to Gaynor who secured 3rd place in Category with her time of 3:24:43.   Conditions started off dull and very windy, leading to some chop in the water for the 1k swim.   Much like the Isle of Man, there also seemed to be headwind all the way around the 51k bike course.  The run was an 11k trail run, heading uphill for the first 4k, zig-zagging through the Slate Quarry.

Gaynor Evans 3rd in Cat - 3:24:43      John Swindlehurst  46th in Cat - 3:26:50     Steve Kennaugh 196th in Cat  3:32:17     Jill Bunyan 25th in Cat -  3:37:51
