More Podium Places

On the weekend that would have been our own Ramey Triathlon there was still plenty on in the UK. Two more podium places were achieved by our women in the last throws of this season.

Hannah Howitt was competing at the Cotswolds Triathlon which was also the South West Sprint Championship. She finished first woman and 10th overall. Her time of 1:02:50 is a Commonwealth Games Consideration time and a full 2 and a half minutes clear of the next woman. A great finish to her season after a fine second place at the Nationals in Liverpool over the Standard distance.

Becky Storrie continued her improvement on the national stage at the British Triathlon under 20’s festival held on the Strathclyde course used for the Commonwealth Games. After a close draft legal battle she was 3rd (1:06:05) only four seconds off silver and seven seconds off gold and she had the equal fastest run split only just slower than her track 5k  despite not having the best of preparation because of injury. All bodes well.

The men were competing at a windswept Balla. A course that is usually fast, but not at the weekend. Ryan Downey finished 19th overall in 2:09:10 , Paul Swindale 25th in 2:13:41 and Callum Taggart 88th in 2:34:52. Mark Terrace had to pull up after the bike to protect an injury.
