IOM Sport Aid Academy

Isle of Man Sport Aid Academy Applications

The IoM Sport Aid Academy is looking for nominations to join their 2019-2021 programme. The Academy is designed to help young athletes (who must be 13,14 or 15 years of age on the 1st September 2019) develop skills to help them excel on the world stage in open competition. At this level, performance levels are not considered to be critical. Of more importance is a demonstrable commitment and dedication to one or multiple sports.

The benefit of being on the Academy is access to coaching events organised by Isle of Man Sport and, in particular, exposure to mentors, coaches and athletes who have represented their sport in the past at a high level. The Academy is also considered to be the first part of the Sport Aid pathway and a stepping stone to full Sport Aid in due course.

Applicants need to be formally nominated. There is a certain amount of paperwork which needs to be completed before this can happen. If you are interested, or know of someone who you think might benefit from this programme, then please let me know ( This email address is being protected from spambots. Whilst, through the Manx Tri Club, I represent triathlon, the emphasis at this stage is very much on potential, enthusiasm and ambition and it may well be that you know of a keen runner/swimmer, for example, who may possess the necessary attributes to succeed at triathlon later on without necessarily having a track record in competition right now.

Nominations need to be in by the 21st June, so please contact me sooner rather than later, if you are interested.
